Altenew Craft-A-Flower: African Daisy Release Bog Hop + Giveaway

Updated: Apr 8, 2022

I look forward to every addition of layering flowers in this Craft-A-Flower series. These African Daisies are amazing! Make sure to scroll down to get all the information about how to win prizes and to see the blog hop list.

Here's my version of the African Daisies---

As I usually do, I investigated through Google Images what these flowers are supposed to look like. Turns out, they come in a wide variety of colors, but I really liked this one with the darker purple color toward the center and the ends of the petals.

I used some wood grain patterned paper as the background for this one, and then added the "window" by using the Soda Top nesting dies in two shades of yellow and offset them to give a star-like effect. I used the smaller of the 2 Soda Top dies to create the inside of the window. After cutting it out, I ran it through the Enchanting Vines embossing folder, and then sprayed it with some bright yellow ink with mica powder in it.

The flowers were cut from heavy white card stock and then colored with Copic markers in various shades of violet. The leaves and stems were cut from green paper, and the added markings were done with Copies as well.

Once all these elements were added, I used the Fancy Hello die and cut one layer of white and one layer of rainbow holographic paper (it's a bit hard to appreciate in the photo, but the color of this holographic card stock goes from a dark pink to a purple color). I put the white die cut underneath the area that didn't overlap onto the "window" and then adhered the greeting to the bottom right corner, finishing the card.

This is a fun and versatile layering set. It can be done to produce a fairly realistic flower, or could be cut from patterned paper to be more whimsical. I'll enjoying finding new ways to use this one, for sure!
