Greetings everyone! This is my first attempt at blogging, and my first time submitting for the AECP, so please be patient with me! I look forward to creating, learning from everyone, and honing my skills.
I chose the Stunning Cosmos flower layering stamps to create my first project. I LOVE cosmos flowers, and had wanted this stamp set for a long time. The first time I tried it, though, it didn't come out quite like I had hoped, so - as is often the case for me - it got set aside for awhile. So it was a fun challenge to get it out again and give it another go. Here's my result:
For this card, I used my two favorite colors - Coral Bliss and Crimson. I love the darker edges with cosmos flowers! For the stems, I used the stamps included in the set for the lower flower, but just used green marker pens in two different (but matching) colors which avoided the need to mask.
I stamped the sentiment using Versafine Tuxedo Black ink and then applied clear embossing powder.
I "framed" the image by using a black mat, and then put it all on a crimson colored 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inch side folding note card. Embellishments include "popping up" the white image panel with foam, adding coral colored sequins that are filled in to hide the sequin hole using coral colored Perfect Pearls, and then adding a bit of shimmer (hard to see in the photo below) with Wink of Stella (clear) to the darker part of the flowers.
I double stamped the flower images, and even still I didn't get perfect coverage, but truth be told, there's not much in nature that is "perfect" so a little color variation perhaps makes for more interesting image.
Ta dah! That's my first project!
