Susan - Let it Shine

So, in general, I'm not a "glitter" person. Do I like shine and glitz? Sure do, but glitter - not so much. So the videos for this assignment encouraged me to move out of my comfort zone (along with a recent video by Jennifer McGuire), and I took on both glitter and glitz.

I glued together two sheets of 120 pound cardstock and then used StickIt to cover one sheet and left the relief paper on while I used the Radial Stars cover die which then cuts through the StickIt but the cardstock stays together, and only makes an impression (mostly!). I then pulled off the star shaped layer of the StickIt over the stars and coated each radial layer with a different color of glitter.

After getting all the glitter on, I then removed the relief paper from the StickIt for the background, cut another piece of dark blue cardstock with the Radial Stars die, and placed that over the top. I used some holographic cardstock to stamp my sentiment, which is from the Fresh Freesia stamp set. I used StazOn ink and then clear embossing powder on that to make the greeting stand out a bit. The sentiment is then mounted on some fun foam to add some dimension.

Metallic cardstock is "flashy" but the holographic cardstock really "packs a punch"! It's a bit hard to capture in photos, but this card stock has a "rainbow" like appearance to it when it reflects in the light, which is captured a bit more in the photo below:

So - hopefully this card really shines!

Thanks! I had fun with this one! Based it on a technique shown in a recent video by Jennifer McGuire. I appreciate your feedback!
